di-Lab is seeking exceptional candidates who share our vision and are dedicated to continuing our exciting and challenging research as well as real-world policy projects. We are a transdisciplinary research group that values enthusiasm for new perspectives, diversity, openness, creativity, and personal and professional growth of each member. There is no prerequisite to joining the lab, as we embrace and pursue diverse academic, methodological, and socio-cultural backgrounds.

🧪 Research & Projects


Q1. What kind of research projects does di-Lab conduct?
A: current empirical studies include sustainable development, digital policy, AI governance, technological sovereignty, science diplomacy, AI for social good, ICT4D, and data-driven policymaking.
 

Q2. Can students propose their own research topics?
A: Yes. Students are encouraged to develop their own ideas aligned with the lab’s themes and consult with the advisor.
 

Q3. What research methods are commonly used?
A: di-Lab employs a variety of methods, including qualitative fieldwork, case studies, interpretive analysis, as well as machine learning and mixed methods.

🤝 Lab Vision & Culture

 

Q1. What is the lab culture like? 

A: di-Lab fosters an open, interdisciplinary, and collaborative environment where students are encouraged to take initiative and think critically. Currently, we have a very good mixture of diverse background from Engineering to social science and art, from different cultural background, etc.

Q2. Can international students join di-Lab?
A: Absolutely. di-Lab welcomes students from all over the world and values diverse perspectives. Please refer to MEMBERS page. 

Q3. Are there regular meetings or seminars?
A: Yes, lab members participate in bi-weekly lab meetings, individual supervision meetings, regular research seminars, workshops, and group discussions.

Q1. What’s the application process?
A: Please refer to STP Page: https://stp.kaist.ac.kr/application

Q2. Can I contact the professor before applying?
A: Yes, prospective students are encouraged to contact Prof. Kyung Ryul Park (park.kr@kaist.ac.kr). 

For Masters: not obligatory, confirmation after admission, around midterm of 1st semester

For PhD: Compulsory, have to designate a potential advisor in the application form

Q3. Can international students join di-Lab?
A: Absolutely. di-Lab welcomes students from all over the world and values diverse perspectives.
