Anissa Tammaoui

Anissa’s interest in the digital sphere was sparked during a university seminar on cybersecurity policy. Since then, her focus has gradually shifted toward AI, a field in which regulatory frameworks are still being negotiated on a global scale. This allows her to bring together her interests in technology and the geopolitical dynamics that affect (and are affected by) AI regulations. At KAIST, she hopes to learn from the transdisciplinary mix of student backgrounds and to gain new perspectives on collaborative approaches to global AI governance that proactively include developing and emerging nations.

  • Research Project: Funded by the German Ministry for Education and Research about legal loopholes and future visions for AI integration in working contexts. Tasks included conducting interviews with stakeholders, co-writing three papers, research on legal proceedings and technical intricacies, facilitating monthly newsletter (2025) 

  • Stadtgespräche Hamburg: Research and implementation of digital citizen dialogue formats for the city of Hamburg (2024) 

  • Research Data Management: Conceptualizing a collective research data management consultation workflow for administrative workers at 17 higher education institutions with emphasis on data protection, copyright, and patent regulations, planning workshops (2024) 

  • Cyber Military Units Research Opportunity: Responsible for the Dutch Cyber Defence Unit, coding capabilities and infrastructure, and extending database

  • 2022: Erasmus Scholarship for study abroad 

  • 2019: Full athletic scholarship for attending University fo South Florida 

  • 2019: Award by high school for best A-level exam on the Ethics of Neurobiology and the Localization of the Self according to Freud 

  • 2014-2019: Track & Field related; 10x state champion, 3x top 8 placement at National Championships, awarded with monthly financial support by the German Sports Aid Foundation 

Hobbies

  • Reading novels, Musicals, playing Sims 4, and watching tornado documentaries
