2026 DHIS2 Annual Conference, Climate & Health Academy 참가

지난 6월 15일부터 18일까지 노르웨이 오슬로에서 개최된 2026 DHIS2 Annual Conference에 이지연 박사과정생(KAIST STP)이 참가하였습니다. 오슬로 대학교(University of Oslo) Health Information Systems Programme (HISP) Centre 주최로 열린 이번 행사에서는 DHIS2 Annual Conference와 Climate & Health Academy가 함께 진행되었습니다.

DHIS2(District Health Information Software 2)는 중·저소득국가를 중심으로 보건의료 데이터 수집·분석·시각화에 가장 널리 쓰이고 있는 오픈소스 보건정보시스템입니다. DHIS2 Annual Conference는 전 세계 DHIS2 개발자, 정부 관계자, 공여기관, 기술 파트너 등 다양한 이해관계자들이 모여 경험을 공유하고 최신 개발 동향과 혁신 사례를 논의하며 새로운 파트너십과 협력의 기회를 모색하는 자리입니다. 함께 열린 Climate & Health Academy는 기후 데이터 통합 및 예측 모델링을 위한 DHIS2 도구의 활용 교육을 제공하고, 실제 사례에서 얻은 교훈을 공유함으로써 기후 회복력 있는 보건 시스템(climate-resilient health systems) 강화를 위한 DHIS2 시스템과 데이터의 활용을 촉진하는 것을 목표로 합니다. 두 행사가 병행됨에 따라 참가자들은 기후와 보건에 관한 정보 세션 및 토론에 참여하는 동시에, 보다 심화된 학습과 실습 워크숍의 기회를 가질 수 있었습니다.

이지연 박사과정생은 Epidemic Intelligence for Resilient Health Systems, Sustaining Digital Public Goods: From Projects to Shared Infrastructure, Climate & Nutrition, Tracker as Lightweight EMR in PHC, DPGs in Practice 등 다양한 세션에 참여하여 DHIS2 기반 One Health 데이터 통합, 디지털 공공재(Digital Public Good)로서의 지속가능성, 기후-보건 예측 모델링, 디지털 주권(Digital Sovereignty) 등의 의제를 폭넓게 살펴보았습니다. 특히 케냐, 탄자니아, 부르키나파소 등에서 진행 중인 One Health 데이터 통합 사례를 HISP Centre, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), 미국 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) 소속 실무자 및 연구자들의 발표를 통해 접하였으며, 스리랑카, 우간다, 말라위, 르완다 등 여러 국가의 보건정보시스템 구축·활용 경험을 청취하였습니다. 행사 기간 동안 이지연 박사과정생은 다양한 기관의 실무자들과 교류하며, 보건의료 데이터 거버넌스와 보건정보시스템 분야의 최신 동향을 파악하고 국제 실무자 및 연구자들과의 협력 네트워크를 확대하는 계기를 마련하였습니다.

From June 15 to 18, 2026, Jiyeon Lee (Ph.D. Student, KAIST STP) attended the 2026 DHIS2 Annual Conference and Climate & Health Academy, held in Oslo, Norway. Hosted by the Health Information Systems Programme (HISP) Centre at the University of Oslo, the event brought together the Climate & Health Academy and the DHIS2 Annual Conference, running in parallel over four days.

DHIS2 (District Health Information Software 2) is the most widely used open-source health information system, primarily adopted in low- and middle-income countries for the collection, analysis, and visualization of health data. The DHIS2 Annual Conference brings together DHIS2 implementers, developers, government representatives, donors, technical partners, and other DHIS2 stakeholders from around the world to share experiences, learn about the latest developments and innovations, and make connections that can lead to new partnerships and collaborations. The DHIS2 Climate & Health Academy, held alongside the conference, provided technical training on innovative DHIS2 tools for climate data integration and predictive modeling, sharing learnings from real-world use cases to help catalyze the use of DHIS2 systems and data in strengthening climate-resilient health systems. Running in parallel, the two events allowed participants to engage in informational sessions and discussions on climate and health while also offering more focused, hands-on learning opportunities.

Over the four days, Jiyeon Lee attended a wide range of sessions, including Epidemic Intelligence for Resilient Health Systems, Sustaining Digital Public Goods: From Projects to Shared Infrastructure, Climate & Nutrition, Tracker as Lightweight EMR in PHC, and DPGs in Practice. Through these sessions, she engaged broadly with topics such as One Health data integration on the DHIS2 platform, the sustainability of DHIS2 as a Digital Public Good, climate-health predictive modeling, and digital sovereignty.

She held in-depth discussions with practitioners and researchers from the HISP Centre UiO, FAO, the Global Fund, and the US CDC on One Health data integration efforts underway in countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, and Burkina Faso. She also learned from country experiences in Sri Lanka, Uganda, Malawi, and Rwanda regarding the implementation and use of health information systems, gaining firsthand insights into current practices in public health data governance while expanding her international network of practitioners and researchers.
